5 dead after plane carrying European Union officials crashes in Malta (Photos).

Five people have died after a plane believed to be carrying EU border officials crashed and exploded into a ball of flames in Malta. The light aircraft crashed shortly after taking-off from the runway at Malta Airport in Luqa at around 5.30am today, reports say.

No one aboard the flight, heading for Misrata in Libya, is thought to have made it out alive. Emergency services are now on the scene searching the burning wreckage for any survivors.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu announces he wants to die by assisted suicide.

South Africa's retired Anglican archbishop and anti-apartheid icon, Desmond Tutu, marked his 85th birthday on Friday, 7th. He also announced same day that he wants the right to end his own life.

The anti-apartheid veteran said laws against helping people to die should be abolished. He claimed he has the right to be ‘allowed to pass on to the next phase in the manner of my choice’.

Probe my children if they are corrupt - President Buhari tells EFCC.

The war against corruption may gather more steam soon, going by President Muhammadu Buhari’s latest pronouncement.

The President has told the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other anti-graft agencies to probe even his own children or members of his family implicated in corrupt practices. He said he would not forgive the anti-graft agency if it fails to probe any allegation of corruption against his children and family members.

A sketch of Buhari’s tough anti-corruption mindset and plans was contained in a book, “Muhammadu Buhari: The challenges of leadership in Nigeria”, which is authored by Prof. John Paden.

Large groups of zombies flood London for World Zombie Day (Photos).

Terrifying legions of the undead were unleashed in central London yesterday to mark the World Zombie Day and raise money for charity.

The World Zombie Day was first celebrated in 2006, more than 50 cities worldwide participated, including New York, Pittsburgh, Paris, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Seattle, and Tokyo.

To avoid chaos, the zombies were told not to walk on the roads, freak people out, touch anybody, bring fake weapons, bring no drugs, push their way into anyone's business premise if they are not welcome, destroy any property nor litter.

Germany to financially compensate more than 50,000 convicted gays.

Germany has decided to compensate more than 50 thousand men, who were jailed for their sexual orientation under a historic law. The plans, which will see 30 million euros ($33.6 million) set aside to compensate homosexuals convicted under a historic law for their sexual preferences, up to the 1960s, were revealed by the German daily "Süddeutsche Zeitung" (SZ) on Saturday.

Germany's Justice Minister, Heiko Maas, of the Social Democrats told the paper that compensation would "depend on concrete individual cases," taking sentence duration into consideration.

Customs lifts ban on importation of rice.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Col. Hameed Ali (rtd), has ordered the immediate lifting of the ban on rice importation from import restriction list and the re-introduction of import duty payment at land borders. Outrage as FUTA student brags about raping girls on Facebook (photo).

According to screenshots being shared online, a young student of Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) with the Facebook name 'Tobi Medal' openly bragged about raping girls in a Facebook group. He advised guys to lure girls who have been playing hard to get and rape them.

When challenged, Tobi said he is very serious about his advice and it has worked for him on more than one occasion. After these damning comments went viral, a quick check on his Facebook profile shows he has deactivated his account.
